She enjoys giving back to her community by teaching therapeutic yoga that is accessible to all through the Viniyoga approach. She began this journey while attending college at the University of New Mexico. She attended yoga classes through college and had fun exploring the various yoga studios around Albuquerque. She quickly noticed how beneficial yoga was for her mental and physical well-being and became very passionate about her own practice.
After graduating from college with a BA in Communication and Minor in Psychology in 2015, she moved to Austin, TX to find a career path in her degree field. While searching, she continued her personal yoga practice at a studio called Yoga Yoga, where one of her favorite teachers gave her a small scholarship for teacher training, which she is eternally grateful for. She signed up on a whim thinking that she might as well pursue what she is most passionate about. She chose the 200hr introduction to Yoga Therapy and Hatha Yoga Teacher Training because it had a therapeutic element to it; She always wanted to know more about how she could help the mental and physical health and wellbeing of herself and the people around her.
Sylvia felt this was the best decision she had made, this training was life altering and helped in her journey of self-discovery and toward choosing a career path that she truly loves and enjoys. After completing this certification in 2017 she has taught prenatal courses while pregnant with her first child and then after having her daughter she moved back to New Mexico to build a home yoga studio so that she could continue to teach to her community. While teaching at her home studio courses she has also been working on completing an online certification in chair yoga through Yoga Vista Academy.
